Biuret method for protein quantification
WebMar 13, 2024 · Among most common protein assays reported to date, Lowry protein assay and Biuret assay are the two established and oldest methods widely used for protein quantification. In 1972, Lowry assay has been modified to yield a higher color with a linear relationship between concentration of sample and color intensity [ 7 ]. WebBCA assay is one such method based on the biuret reaction where BCA reagents act to form a purple‑colored product attributed to the chelation of two molecules of BCA per Cu+ ion. The assay signal is proportional to the number of exposed peptide bonds in a protein and is less affected by protein structural variants and contaminating biomolecules
